BALTIMORE, MD. (March 23, 2018) " Beth El Congregation of Baltimore announced today that its Search Committee, led by First Vice-President Ed Mishner, has appointed Amanda Max Beitman as Director of Development, following a six-month search that included dozens of applications and six official interviews. “Beth El is in debt to our dynamic search committee who dedicated their time and expertise to this important process,” said Ed Mishner.
The Director of Development is responsible for coordinating the whole organization's fundraising and marketing activities. Amanda will start her new position on May 1st, 2018.
"We are so excited to bring on a Director of Development with the creativity and energy that Amanda brings to this position,” said Josh Bender, Executive Director of Beth El. “Her skills and experience in development, working with volunteers, planning events, and building lasting and authentic relationships in the Baltimore Jewish Community will make her an asset to our team and the Beth El family. Amanda will inherit a strong development program and legacy thanks to our beloved Ailene Sher of blessed memory. She will also be surrounded by incredibly committed lay leaders who have shaped Beth El and made it what it is today.”
Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge from the Jewish communal sector to Beth El Congregation of Baltimore. In her previous role as Director of Affinities for The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, Amanda created and executed strategic fundraising plans, including the management of the Maimonides Society, a group of healthcare professionals, and organized missions to Israel.
She brings with her a prior love and connection to Beth El. “A couple of years ago I sat in High Holiday services at Beth El for the first time”, said Mrs. Max-Beitman. ”I didn't know what to expect, and I did not know how inspired and moved I would be by the service. It was the first time in years that I had been spiritually moved in that way. With Beth El as a pillar Jewish institution that is continually innovating and evolving, I am overwhelmed with excitement to become part of the team and to work with the clergy, staff, and incredible lay leaders that Beth El is known for in the community.”
Amanda holds a Masters of Jewish Communal Services from Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University. As an Orton-Gillingham certified tutor in the Dyslexia Tutoring Program, Amanda volunteers to help struggling students learn to read. Amanda lives in downtown Baltimore with her husband, Peter.
