The Rabbi Mark G. Loeb Center for Lifelong Learning and Beth El’s Israel Affairs Committee will host a Four-Part Series on Sunday Mornings, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. on December 15, January 26* (instead of January 12), February 9, March 9

Explore the complex dynamics of Israel today in this monthly series diving into the social, cultural and geopolitical landscape. The classes will cover Zionism: what it means to be a Zionist, an anti-Zionist, and the intersection between anti-Zionism and antisemitism.
Zionism (2 sessions)
These sessions will focus on the works of Theodor Herzl, Nathan Birnbaum, Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, Aharon David Gordon, Ze’ev Jabotinsky, David Ben-Gurion, Menachem Begin and Beryl Katznelson. We will explore the difference between social, religious, cultural and labor Zionism.
What are the Gaza Strip and the West Bank? (1 session)
This session will focus on the history, demographics, security, and the politics of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The Knesset: How Does the Israeli Government Work? (1 session)
In this session learn how Israel's Parliamentary democracy functions. Israel's main legislative body is called the Knesset and functions differently than Congress here in the US in several ways. We will explore how the Knesset came to be and how it functions today. Each session will enable you to learn and better understand Israel’s rich and multifaceted identity.
